Hand-Look Embroidery Designs
For Best Results Stitching the hand-look embroidery designs we recommend the following:
To stitch the designs we recommend to use #40 embroidery thread. Also, since we want the designs to look like they were hand stitched with 2 to 4 strands of embroidery floss, the way it was done before Embroidery Machines were invented, we use a technique to repeat the the stitches accordingly. You don’t have to do anything special, just stitch and enjoy. You will love that the finished embroidery is not heavy, stiff and thick like most machine embroideries and doesn’t tend to pucker the fabric so you don’t need a heavy stabilizer. You can use any stabilizer but it is best not to use a tear-away type stabilizer (since the stitches are longer than usual to create that special hand-look and the perforations are not close together for easy tearing.) We used a medium weight cutaway stabilizer for our designs pictured, but light to medium cutaway works fine. The designs have that special Vintage Look and the lower stitch count makes them quick to complete. We believe you will really enjoy these designs. They work well on quilt projects and also could be applied to clothing such as collars and yokes on blouses and denim shirts. Some may be used for little sachet pillows, tablecloths, dinner napkins, place mats decorator pillows, etc. You will notice that we offer some real nice designs for pillowcases too. These are just a few suggestions. Medium weight upholstery fabric works well, especially solid colored brocades or embosed fabrics. They are also great for home decor Items. We are sure you will find many other applications for them. Enjoy!
